Chamber of Commerce survey on Olympia: False reporting on supposed change in mood

According to the NDR Hamburg Journal 21.04.2026(From minute 19:44) the Chamber of Commerce issued a press release on April 19th on a survey that dealt with the mood for or against an Olympic bid. Unlike other press releases, this one is not on the Page of the Chamber of Commerce published. On 20 April, the NDR reported on this. In its reporting, the survey was described as “latest” and its values – 60% for this – assessed as a “change of mood”. However, the survey prepared by Prognos for the Chamber of Commerce was already carried out from 20 February to 5 March, but was only published on 19 April. The majority of voters in North Rhine-Westphalia and Kiel voted in favour of the application. A survey initiated by the NDR, which was carried out according to the detailed concepts of the Senate published on 17 March on finances, mobility and others from 19 to 23 March and which is therefore the latest, came to significantly different results: 50% I voted against it, 40.% rather for it. After notice, the NDR corrected in the above-mentioned broadcast and on all other channels its Statement (latest study) and evaluation (mood change) in less than 24 hours.
References were also sent to the private media houses, which had also reported on ‘new’ and ‘change of mood’. The Mopo corrected their article within a few hours. Other media companies have not yet complied with their journalistic duty of care.
The postal ballot documents have been sent to all Hamburg residents since 21 April. The timing of the fake news (new, mood change) is therefore in the immediate electoral context.
