On 14.01.2026, the Citizenship decided to hold the Citizenship Referendum for the application for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2036 or 2040 or 2044. To this end: Christian Völker, Trustee of NOlympia:
"So far, the Citizenship Referendum in Hamburg has been mono-thematically focused on Olympic applications. It is an arbitrary, thematic selection of a top-down referendum that is problematic. In accordance with these circumstances, we strive to help make it as pluralistic of opinion and thus democratic as possible. Because in Munich, where only pro-Olympia arguments were sent out with the election documents, we certainly do not want to do so in Hamburg.”
Mo Petersen, Trustee of NOlympia:
It is important that the facts come to the table. The Senate is currently telling a story to the citizenry and a different story to the public. For example, he told the citizenry that he did not receive a euro from the federal government for his Application costs and that concrete support is provided according to the level and scope of implementation, security and Infrastructure costs It is not specifically agreed. He suggests to the public that he this commitment I would have. This double-talk is unacceptable. We will help to illuminate these corners.”
NOlympia Hamburg invites you to Kick-off event at the start of the campaign: On Friday, 16.1. at 18:00 o'clock in the Centro Sociale, Sternstraße 2.
